Robert Reid (1862-1929)
Reid studied in Boston where he became friendly with other member of "The Ten", the most important Group of American impressionist working in the early part of the 20th century.
A woman in a garden or with flowers distinguishes many of his pictures with a distinctive overall tonality. The museum painting, Peonies, is indicative of this style - a beautiful woman holding a bouquet of peonies in overall tones of pink.
