A pair of vases made by mold to test Overbeck glazes. One vase is a deep green and the other being a dusty purple.
Glaze test vases are small vases thrown specifically to thrown specifically to test the application of glazes. These vases were made from a mold, with three of the four test vases in the collection being identical shapes. While flat ceramic tiles are often used to test the color of a glaze, vases are used to test the application, and the vases often incorporate vertical walls and various curves in order to guage the viscocity and layer effects of a given glaze.
