Modernist Works: On Loan from Peru Community Schools Fine Art Gallery
February 05 – April 30, 2022
RAM is excited to continue its relationship with PCS Fine Art Gallery with this one-gallery exhibit of Modernist artwork featuring well known international artists like Cuban artists Camacho and Covarrubias as well as other surrealists and modern painters of the day. The exhibit will be on display in the Dr. Dana Reihman and Dr. Eileen Cravens Gallery.
Peru High School is the home of an outstanding collection of original art. In 1938, G. David Thompson, a PHS graduate, started gifting the school with a unique art collection, in honor of his teacher, Mr. John Whittenberger. Thompson became a wealthy Pittsburgh industrialist and world-renowned art collector. His collection of modern art was highly regarded for its scope and quality. In all, Thompson gifted Peru High School over 71 pieces of art, as well as 54 pieces of oriental ceramics dating back to 215 BC.
